| Further Notes: | Son of Andrew McCarthy (a Shoemaker) and Ellen Coveney. On 8th January 1933 Garda McCarthy went on a boat into the River Lee to rescue two civillians. The boat capsised causing them to fall into the water. They were all rescued except for McCarthy whose body was sadly found two hours later. He is buried in Durris. | ||
