Son of Michael Thornton ( a farmer) and Honor Conroy. Married Mary Ambrose on 24th October 1924 in Cahirciveen Church, County Kerry. Completed a Course in the Depot on Air Raid Precaution in 1939. Promoted to Sergeant in April 1943. Died 25th October 1978 in Dublin. He is buried in Glasnevin Cemetery |
