Son of James Bruen (a farmer) and Catherine Kennedy. Joined the Royal Irish Constabulary on 4th March 1919 (Service Number 69647 being stationed in Limerick and Mayo Districts). Resigned from the RIC on 1st September 1920 for 'No Given Reason' on. Married Mary Foody on 18th July 1929 in Catleconnor Church, Sligo. They had two sons and two daughters. After he retired he was on the Committee for the Cork Branch of the Garda Pensioners Association. Died 11th February 1979 at Shanakiel Hopsital, Cork. He is buried in St. Finbar'S Cemetery in Cork. |
