| Further Notes: | Son of Michael Donegal (a farmer) and Mary Kate Cosgrove. Married Mary Marren on 19th August 1940 in Curry Church, Sligo. They had six children. Donegan was promoted to Sergeant in 1952 and Inspector in 1967. On 8th June, 1972, Inspector Donegan was one of a party of Garda and Army personnel conducting searches at Drumboghanagh, Newtownbutler, Fermanagh/ Cavan border when he was killed by a booby-trap bomb. He is buried in Kilgarry Cemetery, Cavan. | ||
