| Further Notes: | Son of Charles Moore (a farmer) and Catherine Shelvin. Served in the IRA since 1916 and in 1922 was present with Frank Aiken when the British left Dundalk, County Louth. He held the rank of Staff Captain in the Irish National Army during the Irish Civil War. Married Bridget Anne Phillips ( national school teacher). He spent many years in America before he returned to Ireland and joined the Gardai. Promoted to Sergeant on 25th September 1934. Retired on 6th April 1938. Resided at Ravensdale Park, Dundalk, where he became a farmer. Died in Newry Hospital on 6th October 1943 following an accident while felling a tree at his residence. He is buried in Faughart Old Graveyard, Ballymascanlan, County Louth. | ||
