Born in Cavansheath, Ballyfin, Mounrath, County Laois. He was the son of Fintan Moore (a Farmer) and Anne Breen. Worked in the Hardware trade Stores in Fethard (Tipperary), Portaloise and Nenagh (Tipperary). Served with the 1st Tipperary IRA Brigade and was present in the home at Wolfe Tone Terrace in Nenagh, when IRA man and friend Denis Carey was taken outside the home and executed by Crown Forces on 26th November 1920. Married Annie Fogarty on 13th May 1924 in Mounrath Church. They had seven children. Retired in 1961 as Garda Sergeant. He spent the next decade travelling with his wife across America and Britian until they settled in in Metcalfe Terrace, Portaloise. He died on 8th June 1984 at his home. He is buried in New Cemetery in Portaloise, where he was given a funeral with full military honours. |
