Son of Daniel O'Donovan (a Publican and Fishmonger) and Mary Anne Tobin. Fought during the War of Independnece and was imprisoned on Spike Island. Worked in Dublin temporarily assigned as a Garda in the Depot during the time of the 1932 Eucharistic Congress. Married Alice Maher on 17th June 1942 in Boherlahan Church. They had four children. Wa spresent at the visit of American President John F. Kennedy to Ireland.He retired in 1968. Was President of the Tralee Branch of the GSRMA. Died on 28th July 2006 in Tralee. He is buried in New Rath Cemetery in Tralee. |
