Son of Edward Fennelly (a Carpenter) and ? Married Katherine O'Mahony on 17th April 1928 in Glas Caonog, Dublin. They ahd 3 sons and one daughter. Was awarded the Gold Scott Medal in 1932 when he rescued two children from a burning house. Promoted to inspector in 1941 and spent time in Cork Promoted to Superintendent in 1954 and transferred to Boyle, County Roscommon. Transferred to Abbeyleix in 1960 and retired there on 22nd November 1964.Was actively involved in Abbeyleix Golf where he held positions on the committee such as treasurer and vice president. Died suddenly on 29th August 1975 after he collapsed while playing golf at Abbeyleix Golf Course. He is buried in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Abbeyleix. |
