Son of Matthew Lernihan (a farmer) and Bridget Anglim. Married his wife Bridie in 1950 and had seven children. Retired on 24th May 1986. Died on May 5th 2019 in Mervue, Galway. Bridie passed away in 2023. His brother was Superintendent Jeremiah (Jerry) Lernihan Reg No. 13305 (RIP 2023). Michael was also father to Superintendent Mick Lernihan Reg No. 20607 and Uncle to Garda Gerry Lernihan (Kilrush). |
