| Further Notes: | Son of Sergeant Michael Rogan RIC and Rebecca Arthurs. As a baby infant he surived the murder-suicide of his parents and three siblings by their godfather and familiy friend, Constable John Pilkington, at Ballinadrimna RIC Barracks in County Kildare on 31st October 1892. Michael Rogan Jr himself later joined the RIC (No. 65336) and served from 1910 until he resigned due to ill health in 1920. During the War of Independence was an I.R.P. (Irish Republican Police). He married Mary Josephine Maher on 5th October 1932 at St. Andrew's Church in Dublin. During his entire policing career he served in Kilkenny City and was made a Detective. He retired early from the force due to ill health in early 1937 and died on 10 August 1937 at John's Place. He is buried in St. Kieran's Cemetery, Thomastown, County Kilkenny. | ||
