Richard J. Heydon was born in Kildare Town and was the son of Richard Heydon (a Porter) and Catherine Gaynor. Qualified as a National School Teacher in 1921 and worked in Waterford when he joined the Civic Guards. Married Nora O'Sullivan on 12th April 1928 in Upon his transfer in 1935 he spent 27 years as a Superintendent in Castlebar, County Mayo. He was Captain of Castlebar Golf Club in 1940. Retired and resided in Castlebar. Died in June 1978. He is buried in Old Castlebar Cemetery. |
