Samuel George Shirley was the son of Annesley Shirley (a farmer) and Anne Sophia Crawford. He served in the RAF in the First World War (Service Number 2923197). Worked in the Depot in Phoenix Park. Married Susan Elizabeth Shirley on 3rd February 1930 in St. James Parish Church in Dublin. Stationed in Castlepollard (Westmeath) and finally in Rockcorry (Monaghan). He retired on 17th December 1953 and took up farming at his residence in Gowran in Kilkenny. Died 21st December 1954 in Garryduff. He is buried in St Johns Church in Shankill Paulstown, Kilkenny. |
