| Further Notes: | Son of Patrick McGonagle (a farmer) and Bridget Lafferty. Served with the 1st Northern Division of the IRA. Resigned from the Gardai on 20th September 1926, on the same day his brother Garda Hugh McGonagle (Reg No. 2672) also resigned. He emigrated with Hugh to America and died in the Bronx, New York, on 17th May 1931. He is buried in St Raymonds, New York. | ||
