John McDermott/MacDermott was the son of Patrick McDermott (a Farmer) and Margaret McMahon. Served in No 3 Battalion West Clare IRA Brigade during the War of Independnece. Married Margaret Linehan on 17th November 1925 in Buttevant Church, County Cork. Retired on 15th October 1962. Resided in Castlelands, Buttevant. Died on 15th August 1985. He is buried in St Mary's Catholic Cemetery and Buttevant Friary. |
