Son of Michael Murphy (a Landholder) and Mary Ruane. Married married Elizabeth Hehir on 10th November 1931 in Carran, County Clare. Was injured on 17th June 1934 following altercations at a Blue Shirt Meeting in Kilrush. Upon retirement resided in Thomond Terrace, Sixmilebridge, County Clare. Died on 19th November 1973 in Sixmilebridge. He is buried in Kileen Cemetery Cratloe, County Clare. His brother was also a Garda: Thomas Murphy (Reg No. 3870) |
