Son of John Nixon (a Herd) and Jane Mary Kellet. He had 6 other brothers who served in the Leinster Regiment during the First World War, two of whom died during the conflict (Adam and James Nixon). Smauel did not serve in the First World War but joined the RAF on 9th September 1918. during the First World War (Service Number 294663) and discharged on 13th February 1920. Promoted to Sergeant in the Civic Guards and later resigned. |
