John Patrick Moran was born on *24 September 1897 and was the son of Thomas Moran (a Farmer) and Mary Reynolds. Married Margaret Maloney on 20th April 1927 in Newport, County Mayo. She died on 20th January 1937 along with their newborn daughter. Married Mary Melvin on 20th October 1938 in Ballyhaunis. Was injured in 1959 in car crash in 1959 at Murrisk, County Mayo. His second wife Mary died on 9th April 1960 as Castlebar Hospital, which resulted in his retirement on 30th September 1960. He resided in Cong. His son John also drowned on the grounds at Ashford Castle in June 1966. John P. Moran passed away on 16th July 1976. He is buired in Cong Abbey Cemetery. |
