Edmond Joseph Donovan was born in Drumbiggle, Ennis, Co Clare and was the son of Edmond Donovan (a Police Sergeant in RIC) and Mary Coghlan . Served as a Gunner on the Royal Marine Artillery (Service Number 14486) on Board the HMS Valiant and was discharged on 2nd October 1919. Married Mary Kearney on 20th September 1927 in Kanturk Church. They had three daughters. Worked as a District Clerk in Chief Superintendent's Office in Kilkenny Barracks until he retired on 24th March 1960. He resided in Castlecomer Road, Kilkenny. Died on 19th August 1960 in St. Luke's Hospital in Kilkenny. He is buired in St. Kierans Cemetery. |
