John Laffan/Laffin was born in Ballycoonan, Stradbally, County Laois/Leix. Son of Matthew Laffan (a Labourer) and Margaret Murphy. Served in 4th Battalion 3rd Southern Division Laois IRA Brigade during the War of Independence. Married Bridget Prendergast on 10th February 1926 in Cobh, County Cork. They had 6 sons and 4 daughters. Retired on 3rd June 1959. Resided at Carraghmore, Salthills, County Wexford. Died on 13th September 1975 in New Ross Hospital, County Wexford. |
