John Anthony Meighan was the son of John Meighan ( National School Teacher) and Elizabeth O'Shea. He founded the Garda Pipe Band in 1922. Married Teresa Gaffney on 1st March 1927 in Durrow, County Laois. Following the death of Teresa Meighan, John then married Ellen Lomasny on 17th March 1959 in Cahir, County Tipperary. Spent 35 years stationed in Kilworth, County Cork. Retired on 28th December 1961 and remained in Kilworth. Died on 15th April 1979. |
