| Further Notes: | Son of Thomas Fitzgerald (a Farmer) and Ellen Walsh. Served in Dingle Company IRA during the War of Independence. He was an All-Ireland Champion football player for Kerry. Married Rose Monica Magee on 30th June 1928 in Kiltyvogue, Cloghan, County Donegal. They had several children. Served as a Garda for 30 years. Upon his retirement he took up farming and remained in Oranmore, County Galway. Died on 4th April 1967 in Oranmore. He was given full military honours at his funeral. | ||
