Son of Patrick Burton (a Farmer) and Honoria Coffey. Garda Burton was in Annascaul, County Kerry when he went missing on 9th April 1947 and two days later (11th April 1947) his body was recovered by the cliffs of the Iveragh Peninsula. An inquest held afterwards concluded his cause of death accidental drowning. He is listed on the Garda Memorial in the Phoenix Park, as he died while serving. |
