| Further Notes: | Son of John Cotter (a Farmer) and Kate Leary. Was among the first Civic Guards to open Ballinaboola Station in New Ross, County Wexford. Promoted to Sergeant in January 1924. Married Lena Cronin on 24th November 1927 in St. Andrew's Church, Dublin. Thye had six children. Promoted to Inspector in 1943 and spent 10 years stationed in Union Quay, Cork. Promoted to Superintendent in 1952 and posted to Enniscrone, before he was transferred to Adare and Bruff, County Limerick. Died suddenly from illness while serving on 26th May 1955 in Pembroke Nursing Home, Dublin. He is buried in Bruff Cemetery, County Limerick. | ||
