He served in the C Company 5th Battalion Laois No. 1 Brigade IRA during the War of Independence and as an officer in the Irish National Army during the Civil War before joining the Civic Guards. Married Bridget Dowling on 14th May 1930 in Lisdowney, Freshford, County Kilkenny. Thye had seven sons and two daughters. Retired on 17th May 1967. Died on 2nd January 1969. |
