Patrick John Young was born in Bootle, Liverpool, England. He joined the Fianna in 1913. During the War of Indepdendence he fought with the 4th Battalion C Company Dublin IRA Brigade, where he was at one point interred in Ballykinlar. During the Irish Civil War he worked on the Army base workshop in Clancy Barracks as a private in the Irish National Army. He was a prominent Clarinet Player for the Garda Band in the Depot for 41 years. Married to Delia and had two sons and two daughters. Retired on 31st December 1965. Resided in Walkinstown Road, Dublin 12. Died on 17th May 1990. He is buried in Deansgrange Cemetery, Dublin. |
