| Further Notes: | Son of Francis Mocker and Ellen Ryan. Worked as a Labourer before joining. He served in the Old IRA (F Coy, 7th Battn., 3rd Tipp Brigade). He was stationed in Portarlington. On 16th Feb 1927, he moved station to Tullamore. On 19th Jul, 1927 he moved station to Maryborough (Portlaoise). On 13th Apr 1929, he was moved back to Tullamore. On 18th Sep 1931 he moved station to Mitchelstown. He married Marguerita Woods on 2nd February 1933 in St. Andrews, Dublin. On 24th Mar 1942, James moved station to Union Quay in Cork. One month later, on 24th April, he moved station to McCurtain Street. Detective Garda James Mockler died suddenly on 28th April 1942 of a heart attack. He is buried in Clonmichin Cemtery in Tullamore. His brother Robert Mockler was also a Civic Guard who died in Service (Reg No. 2350). | ||
