Peter Shiel was actually born on *20th February 1904. He was the son of Stephen Shiel (a Farmer) and Mary Egan. Married Mary Ellen Wickham on 16th August 1932 in Wexford Town. He was the Weights and Measurements Inspector in An Garda Siochana. Retired in June 1950 and resided at Rose Cottage, Baylough, Athlone. Was President of Athlone Agricultural Show Society and Athlone Rugby Club. Was a Fomrer Grand Knight of the Knights of St. Columbanus. Actively involved in the Garda Pensioners Association. Died on 1st September 1983. |
