Son of Joseph Gavin (a farmer) and Annie Hunt. Was stationed in Clara with the 1st Mid 2rd Southern Division National Army, having enlisted on 18th July 1922 (Service Number 21078). Detective Gard Gavin died while serving on 3rd February 1932 at Letterkenny Hospital from tubercular meningitis. He is buried in a cemetery just outside Athlone. He is listed on the memorial in Garda Depot Headquarters Phoenix Park. |
