Ignatius Alolysis Higgins was the son of Nicholas Higgins (a Detective). His Service Number in the Irish Guards Regiment was 2715201 and was discharged on 22nd June 1921. In the Irish Civil War he was stationed in Birr with the National Army (Number 432). Married Mary Josephine Timmons on 30th November 1927 in St. Michael's Church Athy. Retired and settled in Monkstown, Dublin. Died 5th May 1973 in St. Michael's Hospital Dun Laoighaire. He is buried in Tyrrellspass, Cemetery, County Westmeath. |
