Son of Patrick Broughall (a farmer) and Mary Anne Corcoran. Served in C Coy 1st Battalion 7th Brigade 1st Western Division during the War of Independence. Married Bridget Loughman on 9th June 1925 in St. Canice Church in Kilkenny. They had two sons. Following his marriage we waqs transferred to Carlow, where he spent 35 years as a Garda until he retired in 1960. Resdided in Granby Road, Carlow. Worked as the manager of the Colosiuem Cinema Carlow for the next 16 years. Was present during the Garda Jubilee Celebrations in 1972. Died 7th October 1986 at Carlow District Hospital. He is buried in Saint Mary's Cemetery Carlow. |
