Garda Robert McElhannan is the last recruit entry in the Civic Guard Temporary Register 1922-1925 (with exception of the last page containing the list of Men who joined Oriel House).
Robert Patrick McElhannan was the son of Robert McElhannon (a Railway Guard) and Annie Maguire. Married Mary McLaughlin on 10th October 1928 in Westport, County Mayo. Mary died on 3rd February 1936. After he left the Civic Guards, he married Ellen Eileen McGeeney in 1939 in Surrey, England. He died in 1976 in Belfast. |
