| Further Notes: | Michael Joseph Staines was the First Garda Commissioner of the Civic Guards. He was the son of Edward Staines (RIC Constable) and Margaret McCann. Was elected as TD for Sinn Fein following the 1918 Election. Resigned following the Civic Guard Mutiny in May 1922. Married Shelia Cullen on 8th November 1922 in St. Andrew's Church in Dublin. They had 9 Children. Worked as a merchant and businessman after he brief career in the Civic Guards. Died 26th October 1955 in Clontarf, Dublin. | ||
